Liverpool Autumn Events 2026: Gigs, Raves, River of Light and Big Nights Out

Autumn in Liverpool is basically one long excuse to leave the group chat.

September still has outdoor sets and late summer energy. October gets properly busy with Comic Con, electronic nights, Taylor Swift nostalgia, Halloween and River of Light. Then November somehow manages Courteeners, Fontaines D.C., The Script, smaller gigs and more club nights before Christmas completely takes over.

So no, this isn't a list of everything happening in Liverpool between now and December.

It's the stuff we'd actually consider sending to a friend with “fancy this?” attached.

And if you want something less event-dependent, start with our best first date ideas in Liverpool. Most of them work perfectly well when you're meeting a new friend too.

What are the best things to do in Liverpool this autumn 2026?

If you only want the shortlist, River of Light is the best free plan, Calibre Open Air is our September pick, Comic Con Liverpool is the best full-day October event, Annie Mac: Before Midnight is one of the strongest nights out, and Halloween weekend gives you everything from jungle to a three-floor superclub.

For something less intense, go thrifting at ClothesCycle, try a line-dancing session at Invisible Wind Factory or pick one of the smaller Baltic Triangle gigs.

November belongs to music: Courteeners, The Script and Fontaines D.C. all hit the waterfront within little more than a week, while Arts Club and Invisible Wind Factory keep the smaller nights going.

The best plan is not necessarily the biggest one. If you've only just met someone, one DJ set or one lap of River of Light is usually better than committing to an entire day.

September is still good enough to pretend summer isn't quite over. More importantly, there are several genuinely strong music nights within two weeks.

Bonobo DJ Set at Jacaranda Baltic

15 September 2026

Bonobo comes to Jacaranda Baltic for a DJ set celebrating the release of Distance In Static, with the event running from 8.30pm to 11pm. It's 18+ and sits right inside Cains Brewery Village, so you don't have to invent the rest of the evening if you're getting on.

This is exactly the kind of event that works when “shall we get drinks?” feels too boring but a full club night feels like unnecessary admin.

Meet in the Baltic. Bonobo. Decide what happens next afterwards.

Ezra Collective Album Launch DJ Set

17 September 2026

Two nights later, Ezra Collective take over Jacaranda Baltic for an album-launch DJ set from 7pm. It's a particularly easy midweek plan because it finishes early enough that you can either go somewhere afterwards or call it a night without anyone wondering why you're leaving at 2am.

And Liverpool's Baltic Triangle is one of the few places where “DJ set on Thursday?” doesn't sound like a life crisis. The Ship & Mitre Beer Festival moves into St George's Hall

24-27 September 2026

The Ship & Mitre takes its beer festival into St George's Hall for the first time. More than 250 beers, ciders and spirits are promised across multiple sessions, including Liverpool breweries such as Black Lodge and Azvex.

This is better treated as a social plan than a serious tasting exercise. Go with friends, meet someone there or make it one stop rather than announcing that you are both now responsible for investigating 250 beverages.

The venue is half the point anyway. Drinking something from a local brewery inside St George's Hall is much more distinctive than another Saturday where the plan begins and ends with “pub?”

Calibre Open Air

26 September 2026

This is our strongest September pick. Calibre plays an extended three-hour outdoor set at the Brick Street warehouse site, with The Wonder Pot and SubHarmonic bringing the drum-and-bass producer to Liverpool for an event running from 2pm to 10pm. His sets move well beyond straight DnB into dub, techno, ambient, jazz and soul.

The daytime start makes it much easier to turn into a group plan than a normal 11pm club ticket.

And if eight hours isn't enough for you, Invisible Wind Factory also has a Circus Birthday After Party later that night. Nobody is forcing you to do both.

Liverpool events in October 2026

October is easily the best month in this guide. You've got vintage shopping, Comic Con, daytime house, line dancing, Annie Mac, Taylor Swift, River of Light and then an absurd amount happening around Halloween.

ClothesCycle at Camp and Furnace

4 October 2026

One of the easiest Sunday plans is ClothesCycle at Camp and Furnace. The huge thrift event combines second-hand fashion with a clothes swap, DJs, food trucks, coffee, tarot, tooth gems and hand-poke tattoos. You can bring up to five pieces to swap, and leftover swap items become free during the final hour.

This is much better than “shall we go shopping?” because there's actually something happening. Browse. Judge each other's finds. Eat something. Potentially leave with a questionable jacket.

A perfectly respectable Sunday.

Comic Con Liverpool

10–11 October 2026

Comic Con Liverpool takes over the full Liverpool Experience Campus at King's Dock for the weekend of 10 and 11 October.

We're talking film, TV, gaming, anime, cosplay, props, traders, artists and huge guest areas across the Exhibition Centre, Convention Centre, arena and auditorium. The organisers describe it as one of Europe's largest pop-culture conventions, attracting tens of thousands of fans.

This one makes particular sense with someone you've met through a shared obsession because you do not need to manufacture conversation. The conversation is standing six feet tall dressed as something from Resident Evil.

And when the convention finishes on Saturday, Camp and Furnace has an official Comic Con Liverpool After Party running into the night.

Annie Mac: Before Midnight

16 October 2026

Annie Mac brings Before Midnight to Invisible Wind Factory on 16 October, starting at 7pm.

The whole idea behind Before Midnight is almost suspiciously well suited to people who want a proper dancefloor without sacrificing the following day.

Start earlier. Dance. Finish at a vaguely human time. Liverpool also has Above & Beyond at Blackstone Street Warehouse and several bass nights happening around the same weekend, so this is one of October's biggest electronic-music weekends.

River of Light Liverpool 2026

23 October–1 November 2026

This is the easiest recommendation in the whole article. River of Light returns from 23 October to 1 November, turning Liverpool into a giant outdoor light-art trail. The 2026 theme is Together, and the route is expanding beyond its usual waterfront territory into more of the city centre, including Williamson Square and St Pauls Square.

The first announced installations are interactive rather than just decorative. POP! responds to voices, clapping and singing, Dream Herd turns illuminated sheep into a sound-and-light experience, and LOOP uses large moving structures to create animated sequences.

And it is free. For Bfriendz, this is basically the perfect autumn plan.

You don't need tickets. You don't need to sit opposite someone for two hours. You can meet at the waterfront, see a few works, grab food and either keep walking or go home.

It's equally good for a date, a new mate or three people from a group chat who have finally managed to agree on the same evening.

If you like this kind of casual plan, there are more along the same lines in our last-minute plans with new friends. Ignore the word “summer”; the important bit is keeping the plan specific and easy to say yes to.

Halloween events in Liverpool 2026

Liverpool has enough going on around 30–31 October that Halloween deserves its own section. And thankfully, the answer isn't just a pumpkin trail.

UNIT.90 Halloween at Arts Club

Arts Club turns Halloween into a full superclub weekend. Theatre of Fear takes over on Friday 30 October, followed by A Nightmare on Seel Street on Halloween itself. The Saturday event runs from 9pm until 4am across three floors, including Arts Club's 360 rave cage.

This is not the low-pressure option. This is the “we have already established that both of us want to go out-out” option.

A Warped Halloween at Meraki

If jungle is more your thing, Meraki has A Warped Halloween on 31 October with Samurai Breaks, Napes, Settle Down and MYOHMY. The event starts at 10pm and leans into new-school jungle and bass rather than generic Halloween chart music.

A much stronger choice than spending half the evening queuing for a club playing the same playlist it played last Saturday, except someone has put fake cobwebs over the bar.

Elder Emo or Alt 80s Halloween

Arts Club is also doing Elder Emo Halloween and Just Like Heaven: Alt 80s Halloween earlier on 31 October.

So if your costume is basically “I still know every word to songs I downloaded from LimeWire”, Liverpool has you covered.

November is where Liverpool's autumn music calendar becomes ridiculous.

Job de Jong & Dennis Quin at Invisible Wind Factory

6 November 2026

Invisible Wind Factory starts the month with Job de Jong & Dennis Quin: All Night Long on 6 November.

If you're looking for electronic music in Liverpool in November rather than waiting for another arena show, this is the kind of listing worth checking first.

Courteeners + The Lathums

13 November 2026

Courteeners bring their 20-year tour to M&S Bank Arena on 13 November, with The Lathums joining as special guests. If you want the big communal indie night of the month, this is it.

It also lands on the same evening that Invisible Wind Factory has a Jazzy DJ set, so Liverpool is making you choose between enormous indie singalongs and staying out dancing.

The Script

19 November 2026

The Script play M&S Bank Arena on 19 November with James Morrison. Yes, this is the most millennial entry on the page.

But if someone suggests screaming Breakeven together in 2026, sometimes you just accept the plan.

Fontaines D.C.

20 November 2026

The very next night, Fontaines D.C. bring their arena tour to Liverpool with Chalk supporting. This is one of the strongest gigs in the entire autumn calendar — and general tickets are already sold out, with the venue directing people to its waiting list.

So we're including it because people will absolutely be searching for Fontaines D.C. Liverpool 2026, but don't build your entire November around magically finding a ticket.

More November plans that aren't an arena gig

Not every weekend needs a £50 ticket. Camp and Furnace has a Gilmore Girls Quiz on 6 November and a Twilight Quiz on 13 November, while Arts Club's November programme includes Joshua Idehen, Reggaeton Party and various club nights.

These are exactly the kinds of smaller events worth using when you just need a reason to get people together.

The Bfriendz friendship hub has more ideas if the actual problem isn't “what's on?” but “how do I meet people who'd actually come with me?”

Free and cheap things to do in Liverpool this autumn

The best free plan is River of Light, easily.

If you don't need a scheduled event, a waterfront walk around Mann Island and Royal Albert Dock still works when the weather behaves. Start with one place rather than promising someone a full sightseeing tour.

For a cheap Sunday, ClothesCycle has low-cost entry compared with most ticketed nights and gives you several hours of browsing, music and food if you want them.

And sometimes the smartest move is to use the event as an endpoint rather than the entire plan: meet for something inexpensive first, then decide whether you're actually going on.

Specific and flexible usually beats ambitious.

What should you pick for a first date or new friend?

If you've never met before, choose River of Light, ClothesCycle, Bonobo, Ezra Collective or one simple Baltic Triangle plan. They give you something to do without locking you together for the night.

If you've already met and know you get on, Calibre Open Air, Annie Mac, Comic Con or Taylor Swift Night are easier to commit to.
